Acer TravelMate P6: lightweight, long-lasting 14-inch laptop with a 16:10 display
The Acer TravelMate P6 TMP614P-52 is a portable office laptop aimed at the business segment. The configuration we reviewed cost between 1,600 and 1,700 Euro (around US$1,600) and is currently the most expensive model in the line-up. Sadly, despite its hefty price tag, the review unit doesn't support 5G or LTE. There are, however, models with these features.
The Core i7-1185G7 and 16 GB of RAM onboard (LPDDR4X-4267, in dual-channel mode, non-expandable) allow the laptop to run office and Internet applications. The brisk PCIe 3 SSD with a capacity of 512 GB should provide enough storage for most use cases. Otherwise, the SSD can be replaced as necessary. But there are no options for adding other storage devices.
Based on our experience with the device, the 56-Wh battery provides around 10 to 14 hours of usage (screen brightness approx. 150 cd/m²). At maximum display brightness, the laptop can run for around 9 hours on a single charge with Wi-Fi enabled. The TravelMate comes with a USB-C charger (65 watts), which can be connected to either of the Thunderbolt 4 ports.
The matt IPS display has a work-friendly 16:10 aspect ratio (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) and offers excellent contrast, brightness and colour reproduction. The colour coverage is on par with that of its the competitors. There is also a built-in privacy screen that can be toggled on or off to make it harder of others to peek at the display from the side. If you don't need this feature, you can also look for variants without a "P" after "TMP614" in their model number (i.e. TMP614-52).
