Slimmest and lightest 16-inchers around: Acer launches Swift Edge laptops with AMD Ryzen Pro 6000 processors and OLEDs
Acer is bringing business features to its Swift lineup with the latest Edge models powered by AMD’s Ryzen Pro 6000. According to Acer’s internal market analysis, the new Swift Edge laptops are the world’s lightest 16-inch models, which come with an ultra-slim magnesium-aluminum chassis sporting a 12.95 mm (0.51 inches) profile and 1.17 kg (2.58 lbs) weight. Moreover, the Swift Edge offers sublime visuals thanks to a 16:10 4K (3840 x 2400) OLED display with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and HDR-ready 500 nit peak brightness.
The Ryzen Pro 6000 family was chosen for its multilevel security features and the processor options include the Ryzen 5 Pro 6650U and the Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U, as well as non-Pro versions like the Ryzen 5 6600U and Ryzen 7 6800U. Maximum RAM capacity is 32 GB of LPDDR5 and NVMe SSD capacity goes up to 1 TB. Additional security is offered through an integrated Microsoft Pluton security processor plus a fingerprint reader integrated in the power button and an IR 1080p webcam.
Given the slim profile, the Sift Edge does not come with GbE jacks, but it does feature fast Wi-Fi 6E connectivity with Bluetooth 5.2 support. Port selection includes two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, an HDMI 2.1 video output and headphone jack. Note that the product page mentions USB4 instead of USB-C 3.2, so this might be provided on the more expensive versions. Battery capacity is not specified, but it should last for 7.5 hours.
The Acer Swift Edge (SFA16-41) will be available this October in North America starting at US$1,499.99, while in the EMEA region the starting price is €1,499.
