CES 2024 | Acer Predator Connect X7 5G CPE: New 5G router presented with dual connectivity options
Acer has introduced a new 5G router, two years after it released the Predator Connect X5 5G. A Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) router like its predecessor, the Predator Connect X7 5G CPE is the spitting image of the Predator Connect T7 Wi-Fi 7 router that Acer has also brought to CES 2024 in Las Vegas. However, Acer has given the former and latter black and silver finishes, respectively, presumably to help distinguish the pair.
According to Acer's press release, the Predator Connect X7 5G CPE supports tri-band Wi-Fi 7 BE11000 connectivity like the Predator Connect T7. Thus, the router can create a Wi-Fi 7 connection from a 5G signal, theoretically allowing you to serve as your entire home Wi-Fi without needing secondary or tertiary devices. With that being said, the Predator Connect X7 5G CPE supports dual connectivity over 5G and Ethernet via a conventional internet connection.
Moreover, Acer states that its new 5G router integrates load balancing and failover mechanisms, although this was also true of the Predator Connect X5 5G. Like the Predator Connect T7, the Predator Connect X7 5G CPE features hybrid QoS software, and is compatible with the Intel Killer Prioritisation Engine, as well as the Acer Predator Connect Utility app and the Trend Micro Home Network Security Engine. Acer has not confirmed pricing or availability yet, nor the router's alleged peak 5G speeds. For reference, the Predator Connect X5 5G retails for £499.99 in the UK, giving an idea of how much its successor could cost when it reaches shelves later this year.
