Acer: New Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptops announced
Acer offers new gaming notebooks: The new Predator Helios 300 laptops expand the price-sensitive entry-level lineup with different 17-inch laptops. The GPUs provided by Nvidia; you either get the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or GeForce GTX 1060 in combination with Intel's Core i5-7300HQ or i7-7700HQ quad-core CPU. Memory is up to 16 GB DDR4-RAM with a maximum of 32 GB. The storage solution uses a fast PCIe NVMe SSD (up to 512 GB) in combination with a conventional HDD (up to 1 TB). There is a hatch at the bottom, so you should be able to upgrade the drives.
The display is a matte Full HD screen (1920x1080 pixels) based on the IPS technology for wide viewing angles.
The Predator Helios 300 features one USB 3.1 Type-C port, another USB 3.0 port as well as two USB 2.0 ports. You also get a conventional Ethernet connector (RJ-45). The Wi-Fi module supports 802.11ac (2x2).
High-end Gaming with Geforce GTX 1060
Acer targets entry-level gamers as well as customers requiring a powerful multimedia machine with the Predator Helios 300. The SKUs with the more powerful GTX 1060 should have no problems with the native FHD resolution and the highest settings when you play modern games based on the benchmarks we already performed with this GPU. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is about 50% slower, so you might have to reduce some graphics settings. Users with a focus on playing games should get a model with the GTX 1060.
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is planned to arrive in August starting at $1400.
