Acer CB3-111
The Acer CB3-111 is one of the many available Chromebooks available in the market recently. Just like all other Chromebooks, it offers simplicity and has a good looking chassis as well. The white case looks good and neat but feels slightly cheap when touched. However, it is good enough at this price point, seems well assembled and is very compact.
The buying point for the Acer CB3-111 is definitely its portability. It weights at just 109 g and is 1.78 cm dick. Its 11.6 inch display has a resolution of 1366 x 768, which falls into the low cost laptop category these days. The screens is also not very good when used outdoors due to low brightness levels.
The hardware powering this device is an Intel Celeron N2830 Dual Core 2.16 GHz processor, 2 GB DDR3 RAM, 16 GB of SSD storage and an Integrated Intel HD graphics card. Acer has taken this simple approach from other Chromebook brands such as Samsung and Dell. Like any other compact laptop, the Acer CB3-111 is definitely limited in terms of IO ports. It only comes with 1 USB 2.0 port and 1 USB 3.0 port.
Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz high-speed wireless LAN is also available on this laptop. The Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-111 has a 36 Wh battery which is average in this category. Like all other Chromebooks, it is a simple and functional notebook offering ultra-portability in a cloud based computing solution.

Consider this Chromebook if you just want a simple laptop for basic Web tasks, and only if you area already within (or considering using) Google’s ecosystem of products. If you’re not into Google services, then this laptop isn’t for you. The Chromebook 11 is part of a Chrome OS ramp-up for Acer. It also released a couple of other Chrome-based computers: the Chromebook 13 and the Chromebox CX1.

I wanted to love the Acer Chromebook C740. It's solidly built, with just a bit of style and flash, but its low-end specs are reminiscent of a laptop you would have purchased five years ago. That was par for the course for Chromebooks even just a year ago, but the category has advanced far since then. Although it may seem unfair to compare the C740 to the Google Chromebook Pixel, which is more than $700 (£450, AU$950) pricier than the Acer model, it's important for you to see the full spectrum of what the Chromebook line is capable of accomplishing. Yes, the C740 is a Chromebook, as is the Pixel.

If you're in the market for a small Chromebook, it's hard to argue with Acer's R11. The price certainly hits a sweet spot, and the laptop is a great machine for getting a bit of work done, kicking back for some tunes, and occasionally breaking it out as a tablet replacement. It may not be quite as stylish as the Asus Chromebook Flip, or as rugged as the Dell Chromebook 11, it sits firmly in the middle. One thing that will take some deep consideration, however, is whether Chrome OS is the right operating system for you. As I mentioned in the introduction, Chrome OS is singularly focused on a web experience, which comes at the cost of power and versatility. And as useful as the hybrid nature of the Chromebook R11 is, using touch with Chrome OS is still a mixed bag. This isn't a knock on the R11 at all; these are issues for Google to tackle, after all. Still, Acer's Chromebook R11 is a solid buy if you're in the market for something that will last a full day without breaking a sweat, perform adequately under pressure and otherwise serve up a great web browsing experience.

The Acer Chromebook R11's minimalist design may not be the sexiest, but that exterior hides a deceptively capable machine that'll last all day. Oh, and it can flip 360-degrees into a tablet. No big deal.

All in all, the Chromebook R11 is a beautiful budget Chromebook with only a few shortcomings. If you can get over some of the stuttering and frame rate drops on web pages, the Chromebook R11 might just be the perfect compact and portable laptop for you to pick up this season. The Dev Channel is probably something you should stay away from. Android apps on Chrome OS is a great idea, but in testing, it’s obvious that it has a long way to go. Hopefully as Chrome becomes more intertwined with the Play Store, performance when using Android apps on Chrome OS will get better. The Chromebook R11 with 32GB has an MSRP of $280, but you can grab it from Amazon for around $270.

While the Chromebook R11 feels very solid and only weighs 1.25kg, the 360 degree hinge and touchscreen are gimmicks. If the price could have been reduced and the overall laptop made slightly lighter with a better trackpad, the Acer Chromebook R11 would be top of the list for any aspiring Chromebook user. The Acer C730 or the Dell Chromebook 11 are probably better bets unless you really, really need the touchscreen.

The R11 is a decent, if unspectacular device. Having the option to position it in a variety of modes is fun, but the sometimes sluggish performance makes it hard to recommend to anyone who wants to do more than a couple of simultaneous tasks. If your needs are light and you value the flexible hinges though, it’s a nice machine all the same, but we’d still opt to wait for the 4GB alternative.

Acer's Chromebook R 11 has a neat hybrid design and the price is right, but simpler, non-touch devices offer better value. Competition from Windows 10 machines like the HP Stream 11 have left Chromebooks in an awkward place, but Acer takes the right approach.

Picking a computer can be a hard business, especially when there’s so much stuff out there, but when you’re buying for a specific segment, the task is a little easier. Acer’s Cloudbook 11 isn’t likely to be suited to you or I, and even if you class yourself as someone who only needs a set of keys and a decent battery life, we’d still encourage you to look at what else there is out there.

If you are even considering a Chromebook, you're no doubt aware that it is an Internet- and app-centric device, so preloaded software (in the traditional sense) is non-existent. But you can get an awful lot done with a Chrome browser, a Google Docs account, and the downloads available on the Chrome Web Store.

All things told, though, I like the Acer Chromebook R11. I’ve always been a fan of the Chromebook way of doing things – like most people, my digital life is lived almost entirely in a browser these days – and Acer’s decision to add in a welcome bit of flexibility without sending the price rocketing is hugely welcome.

The Acer Chromebook R11 is the most attractive and practical budget Chromebook you can buy today. It may not have the power or the screen suitable for the most hardcore multi-taskers, but it's a seriously good piece of kit for the money. Your alternative choice here is the Asus C201 Chromebook, which is a similar 11in device for around £40 less and can last a few more hours away from the mains. However, with that reduction in price you do lose the IPS screen and a bit of processing grunt to boot, so you certainly do get what you pay for.

The Acer Chromebook R 11 is light and offers a colorful display, a comfy keyboard, decent performance and good battery life. We do worry about the machine's build quality due to the flexing lid. Chrome OS just isn't ready for touchscreens, so we can't call the functionality a plus.

Overall, Acer's Chromebook R11 looks, feels, and performs wonderfully. It's a bit smaller than I'd like, but perfect for those who don't want to lug around something with a larger screen. The version that we tested, which comes with 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM will run you $329.99 directly from Acer, though in my research, I found it for as little as $290, elsewhere. If you're looking for something small, light, and versatile that won't break the bank, you won't go wrong here.

It rates a half-point lower than the Asus Chromebook Flip, our previous top pick, but there is also more competition in the field these days. If you decide that Chrome OS isn't for you, after all, Acer's Aspire One Cloudbook 14 is just as inexpensive as the Chromebook R11 but is a fully-fledged Windows 10 laptop. As such you likely won't have to adapt the way you use your laptop quite as much but with 32GB of storage, and even less than that after you consider the space taken by Windows 10, you've still got the same reliance on cloud storage unless you add in an SD card for storage.

Acer Chromebook 11 CB5-132T-C32M
The Acer Chromebook 11 CB5 is a convertible touchscreen laptop that can be opened all the way until it becomes a tablet. On the way to 360 degrees of tablet fun, a user can also stop to configure it as a stand-up display, or a tent-shaped display that lets a user place it on a window sill, so they can watch videos on the wide-viewing-angle screen while doing the dishes. The 360° hinge features dual-torque technology, so the panel is very easy to open, but locks in place when tap, swipe and pinch on the touchscreen for wobble-free touch control. The panel senses when a user places it upside down for “tent mode”, prompting the image and audio channels to flip over automatically. The Chromebook 11 sports a premium aluminum top panel that is made even more attractive with a unique engraving-like pattern. Acer uses special nano-imprint technology to create this sophisticated texturing that helps users to grip the notebook firmly and which looks as good as it feels. For display, it features the 1,366 x 768 11.6-inch panel. The panel also features In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, so a user can see the display from a wider angle without losing the picture quality. As for hardware specifications, the Acer Chromebook 11 does feature speedy performance thanks to its 1.6 GHz Intel Celeron N3150 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The 32 GB solid state disk also helps with its speedy bootup. It boots up in about 5 seconds and is highly capable of multitasking and streaming video. It also outperforms other Chromebooks in the price range with its full-fledged Intel processor that’s based on Braswell micro-architecture, giving it the power to support another rarity for a Chromebook, a super-fast USB 3.0 port. At just 19.2 mm thin and weighing less than a mere 1.6 kg, this stylish notebook floats like a butterfly and slips into a bag with ease. The Chromebook R 11’s built-in webcam supports High Dynamic Range imaging, for clearer photos and brighter video chats. The left side of the Chromebook holds the power jack, a USB 3.0 port, and an SD card slot. On the right, there are a USB 2.0 port, the headphone jack, and a Kensington lock slot. Conclusively, the Acer Chromebook 11 features great design, solid build quality, relatively high performing hardware at an affordable price. It is suitable for users who are looking for a balanced and convertible Google Chrome OS device at a budget. The Chrome OS is a rather new space, which some might see as the future of computing but to others, it is still far too less of what a personal computer can do. Acer Chromebook 11 N7 C731-C8VE
Chromebooks are gaining momentum as a standard for education technology and the Acer Chromebook 11 is one such Chromebook designed mainly as a solution for classrooms. One might easily second guess its capacity from the Chromebook 11’s average-looking façade. It is nevertheless MIL-STD 810G standard compliant, which affords it with an impact resistant body. This is a significant shift away from earlier Acer Google Chrome machines, which are not known for their ruggedness. However, with this Chromebook 11, student users are assured of more durability as this laptop is able to withstand accidental falls and downward forces. The corner-shield structure and rubber bumper keyboard provide added protection to this Chromebook. Its dimensions measure at 22.9 x 297 x 211mm and it weighs 1.3kg. It is not the lightest or the thinnest laptop around, but its size is good enough for carrying around. Students can slip this device into their bags and carry it about easily. It is fitted with an 11.6" HD (1366 x 768 resolution) 16:9 IPS display. Visuals and images appear clear and the lower resolution doesn’t really impact the experience mainly due to the small screen size. The 180-degree hinge system allows the display panel to lie flat, which makes this laptop ideal for collaboration and discussion.
The C731T models further provides a touchscreen option. Furthermore, it is also decked with a spill resistant keyboard, thus keeping the components safe from inadvertent seepages, something that needs to be adopted as a standard by other manufacturers as well. The touchpad is wide and sensitive. Another feature of the Chromebook 11 N7 is its keyboard design with recessed keys that prevent the key caps from being easily removed. This Chromebook also has a fan-less design that provides cool and quiet operation, while at the same time keeping the profile of this laptop compact and lightweight. This device is powered by the Intel Celeron N3060 processor with Intel HD Graphics 400 graphics adapter and 4GB ram. With these specs, it is sufficient for learning and education purposes. Serious multitasking, on the other hand, might not fare too well. Audio quality is pretty decent and adequately loud. Storage available is 16GB and is expandable via an SD card, something that all Chromebooks have to consider changing. Connectivity includes two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port as well as a 3.5mm combo audio port. Network connectivity is supported by fast dual-band 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. It also comes with a webcam on board. Students are assured of prolonged productivity on this Chromebook as its long battery life is capable of up to 12 hours. It outlasts the performance of its rivals from the likes of Dell and Asus. All in all, this Chromebook is deal for classroom administrators and students who are looking for a rugged laptop with long battery life.

The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 is a good Chromebook for those who'd rather have a laptop that feels hard as nails rather than looks that tell those nearby it's worth nicking. It must be one of the sturdiest laptops in the world at this price.

Acer's new Chromebook 11 N7 can deliver the performance, battery life and hardiness needed to get workers through the day. It's available online for $280 (vendor price) -- or $230 (vendor price) with a non-touch screen. Overall, it is a rugged system that isn't priced like one.

The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 earns high marks for its excellent battery life and durable frame. Unfortunately, its screen is on the dim side and the undercarriage gets a little toasty.

The Acer Chromebook R11's minimalist design may not be the sexiest, but that exterior hides a deceptively capable machine that'll last all day. Oh, and it can flip 360-degrees into a tablet. No big deal.

We thought the 2017 Acer Chromebook 11 was about as good as things could get around the £200 price point. For just a little more the 2018 model throws in future-proofed USB Type-C ports, a snazzy blue finish and will have Google Play integration from launch.

The Chromebook 11 is shaping up to be a great budget choice, with extras like USB-C that we don’t yet take for granted in entry-level machines. Full Android app support is another handy extra, even if performance from that Celeron is still up for debate.

If you need an inexpensive machine for everyday tasks, you can't get much better than this new Acer. The long battery life and zippy performance make it one attractive contender, you're getting plenty of ports, and it doesn't look half bad, either.

Now, after we’ve clarified that you won’t be playing anything more graphically intensive than Hill Climb, or the “you are not connected to the Internet” Chrome dinosaur game, the laptop is pretty usable. Yes, you have to close your eyes for things like the huge bezels, but the Chrome OS experience is better than ever before.

Priced at RM1299, this is what I believe the Chrome OS experience is all about. A snappy computing experience at a very affordable price. This laptop may not be the best for media consumption with its lackluster display and speakers, but it absolute excels at delivering long battery life for work. With sufficient performance for any web app out there, it means anything from word processing to image editing can be done on this laptop.

Neither sleek nor sexy, the Acer Chromebook 311 C733U is built to last a kiddie apocalypse of knocks, drops and splashes. It's also worth a look for adults after a cheap but long-lasting laptop. Just be warned the screen quality is fairly poor.

It’s only the robust build that makes the 311 C733 special. If you want a rugged budget Chromebook with all-day battery life (and then some), then this is a thoroughly decent option, provided you can live with the screen and lack of speed. All the same, you don’t have to spend a whole lot more to find a Chromebook with significantly faster performance and a better screen.

Somehow, it’s only the robust build that makes the Acer Chromebook 311 C722 special. If you’re looking for a rugged budget Chromebook with true all-day battery life (and then some), then this is a thoroughly viable option, for as long as you can live with the screen and lack of speed. And with its thick bezels and low-quality TN screen, it fails to immediately impress. However, with closer interaction is when you realize this is a well-thought-out little laptop. Acer extended a lot of effort into making it rugged and durable, including the rubberized chassis, military-grade body, and splash-proof keyboard. Overall, as a value proposition and assuming the webcam and screen don’t give you a pause, the Acer Chromebook 311 C722 is a fairly effective and impressive budget device. Meanwhile, the ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 (CX5500) remains our Editors’ Choice thanks to a sleek design and powerful all-around performance. Check it out if you’ve got a budget that can stretch a little more.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Celeron N3350: An Apollo Lake family, dual-core, ultra-low-power processor (SoC) that saw the light of day in 2016. Its two cores run at 1.1 GHz to 2.4 GHz; these are not Hyper-Threading-enabled meaning there are no additional threads. This chip has a fairly competent integrated graphics solution, the Intel HD Graphics 500, and eats very little (~6 W). The Celeron N3350 is based on the Goldmont CPU microarchitecture that came to replace Silvermont (2013), bringing with it several welcome improvements. The CPU is Secure Boot-compatible; technically, it will have no issue running 64-bit Windows 11. The average N3350 in our database is just as fast as the venerable Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 is in multi-thread loads; the two cores of this Celeron trail behind a single core of any half-decent CPU such as the Intel Core i3-7130U.
