AYN has announced that it is raising the price of its dual-screen Android handheld, Thor. The brand has also released a software update for the device that addresses a heating issue, among other changes.

The AYN Thor is a dual-screen, Android-powered handheld that was announced in late August 2025. The first batch of pre-orders began shipping to buyers in October 2025, while the second batch of pre-orders is scheduled to begin shipping on January 15. AYN has now announced the date for when it will begin accepting a new batch of pre-orders, and that announcement comes with a price increase.

According to a post on its Discord channel, the third batch of pre-orders for the Thor will begin on January 20th. Unfortunately, AYN has stated that buyers will have to pay more for the handheld due to the memory price surge plaguing the tech industry. The price increase affects three variants of the handheld.

The AYN Thor Base, which has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB of storage, will sell for $309 instead of $299. The Thor Pro, which also has the same processor but 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, will sell for $369, while the Thor Max, with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, will cost $450. This translates to a $20 increase for the Pro and Max models.

AYN hasn't announced a price increase for the Thor Lite which is understandable, as it just became available to pre-order for the first time a few days ago. It costs $249 but has a weaker Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB storage. Also, the batch 2 pre-order isn't over yet, so there's still time to grab the AYN Thor (Base, Pro, and Max) at the launch price before the increase takes effect.

In addition to the price adjustment, AYN has also released a new update for the Thor that resolves some issues and also adds new features. The update arrives as version 1.0.0.360, and below are some of the highlights in the changelog:

  • Added a feature that lets users customize the fan speed curve in Smart Fan Mode.
  • Fixed an issue where the maximum custom fan speed was limited to 70% in both the Thor Control Center and Game Assistant.
  • Made the smart fan speed a little bit more aggressive to address overheating issues in high-performance mode
  • Updated Wi-Fi firmware to resolve issues where certain Wi-Fi networks couldn't be connected to, or connection would lead to system freeze/reboot.
  • Added OLED screen protection features, including dynamic anti-image retention and anti-burn-in protection.
  • Added support for 80% charge limit, 5V 2A charge limit, and 9V 2A charge limit when battery state of health is less than 80.

The OTA should have begun rolling out, so check your device for the update.
