With the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD, ASUS has unveiled another ultra-wide gaming monitor. Offered with a 32:9 aspect ratio, the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD has a QD-OLED panel that achieves 1,000 nits peak brightness with a 1440p resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The gaming monitor also has a USB Type-C port that supports 90 W charging via USB Power Delivery, among other features.

ASUS has introduced the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD, a curved gaming monitor that appears to share plenty of features with the MSI Project 491C or the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9. Specifically, all three monitors feature QD-OLED panels that measure 49-inches across. Likewise, the trio all output at 5,120 x 1,440 pixels in a 32:9 aspect ratio and with a 109 PPI pixel density.

However, ASUS' new gaming monitor may end up being cheaper than its MSI and Samsung counterparts. While Project 491C and Odyssey OLED G9 pricing details still remain unknown, the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD has a lower native refresh rate than either of those gaming monitors. As we have discussed separately, MSI and Samsung's gaming monitors peak at 240 Hz. In comparison, the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD will support up to 144 Hz gaming. Still, ASUS' alternative delivers 0.03 ms GtG response times, as well as Adaptive Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro integration to maximise visuals while gaming.

Moreover, the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD will output at up to 1,000 nits. Purportedly, this is only possible because of a purpose-built heat sink and graphene layer to pull excess away heat away from the QD-OLED panel. Please note that this peak brightness value applies when viewing HDR content; ASUS has not revealed peak SDR brightness yet. Additionally, the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD will ship with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C ports, with the latter capable of recharging connected devices at up to 90 W via USB Power Delivery. Unfortunately, ASUS has not confirmed ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD pricing or availability yet.
