ASROCK 4X4 BOX-4000: A Mini-PC with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U and 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM
There are many Mini-PCs on the market, but few with AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir processors. However, ASRock has unveiled the 4X4 BOX-4000 series, which comes with a choice of three Renoir APUs. Currently, the company offers the 4X4 BOX-4000 with a Ryzen 3 4300U, Ryzen 5 4500U and Ryzen 7 4800U. All are Zen 2 and 7 nm processors, but only the Ryzen 7 4800U supports Simultaneous MultiThreading (SMT). This means that the Ryzen 7 option can execute up to 16 threads across 8 cores. By contrast, the quad-core Ryzen 3 4300U and hexa-core Ryzen 5 4500U are limited to executing one thread per core, instead.
All variants have the same chassis, which measures 110.0 x 117.5 x 47.9 mm. Each system weighs 1 kg, but that will increase slightly once RAM and storage has been added. ASRock has included two SO-DIMM DDR4 slots that operate at up to 3,200 MHz, along with 2.5-inch and M.2 2280 drive bays. The latter supports the PCIe 3.0 x4 standard, meaning that you could include NVMe drives. The 4X4 BOX-4000 supports up to 64 GB of dual-channel RAM, too.
Two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C ports are onboard, as are two USB 2.0 Type-A ports and a USB 3.0 Type-A port. Additionally, the 4X4 BOX-4000 featuers a 3.5 mm jack, two video outputs and two Ethernet ports. One supports up to 1,000 Mbps and DASH functionality, while the other can reach 2,500 Mbps. An Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 has been included too. The 4X4 BOX-4000 actually has four video outputs as the Type-C ports also support DisplayPort out.
ASRock has not publicly announced when it plans to release the 4X4 BOX-4000 series, nor how much each model will cost. However, you can inquire via the ASRock website if you are interested in purchasing one.
