Team Group, the OEM behind the gaming-oriented T-Force memory products, has announced it is working on consumer-grade DDR5 memory. They are to be 16GB in capacity per module and to have a high 4800MHz clock-speed. This project is at a stage at which it is working with companies such as Asus and Gigabyte to see if it can work with their motherboards.

Team Group describes itself as a "global leader in computer memory" and is responsible for the T-Force and T-Create series of DDR4 products, as well as SSDs, USB drives and flash memory. Now, it may be close to offering next generations for its desktop or laptop RAM sticks.

This OEM has announced that it has successfully produced DDR5 memory, although it is not in mass production as yet. However, Team Group has been able to send it to several OEMs for validation.

R&D staff members from these companies, which include MSI, Asus, Gigabyte and ASRock, are apparently working with their counterparts from Team Group to see how their respective new hardware can work together.

As for this new DDR5 RAM itself, Team Group currently believes it will be sold as modules of 16GB each, at a speed of 4800MHz. It, like SK Hynix' similar new product, has an operating volume of 1.1 volts (V). Team Group asserts that these specs can put an end to the need for overclocking to reach such speeds as with DDR4
