2 TB Samsung 980 PRO SSD surfaces online, but be ready to cough up almost US$600

Those with a generous budget who are looking for the ultimate M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD with 2 TB of storage space should get ready for the Samsung 980 PRO SSD, which has just surfaced online on the website of SCAN UK. However, the listing does not even contain performance data yet, so this new variant might take a while to hit most major retailers worldwide. Sadly, given its price and capacity, it will probably take a while until the first serious discounts arrive.

Once the US retailers will begin to add the 2 TB Samsung 980 PRO SSD to their portfolios, we will probably see more wallet-friendly pricing. For now, SCAN UK has this SSD listed with a price tag of £443.99, which translates to roughly US$577. The performance figures are not available yet, but they should be in line with the capabilities of the 1 TB model, which delivers read speeds of up to 7,000 MBps, write speeds of up to 5,000 MBps, as well as an endurance of 600 TBW.

Samsung might have a few other 2 TB SSDs already available, but the 980 PRO is the only one to use PCIe 4.0, which allows AMD X570 and Intel Z490-based platforms to provide the ultimate level of storage performance.
