Deal | Samsung 990 PRO 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD now 38% off on Amazon
Last month, Samsung's latest and fastest PCIe 4.0 SSD, namely the 990 PRO, received moderate discounts on Amazon and reached all-time-low prices (at that time) of US$149 (1 TB) and US$249 (2 TB). Now, this popular storage solution for hardcore gamers, professionals, and enthusiasts is down to US$99.99 and US$179.99 thanks to generous discounts of 41% and 38% (1 TB and 2 TB, model names MZ-V9P1T0B/AM and MZ-V9P2T0B/AM).
Our hands-on review of the 2 TB model has shown that the advertised sequential read speed of up to 7,450 MB/s is quite close to the real-life performance, as we managed to go above 7,100 MB/s. During our testing, the Samsung 990 PRO proved to be around 30% faster than the Crucial P3 Plus (German hands-on test) in most scenarios. This drive uses Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC memory and 1/2 GB LPDDR4 SDRAM (1/2 TB models).
The Samsung 990 PRO is covered by Samsung's five-year limited warranty (or 600/1200 TBW for the 1/2 TB models). To track its health and performance level, the user can use Samsung's Magician software suite.
After 284 user reviews, the Samsung 990 PRO has a 4.4/5 rating, with 75% perfect scores, 11% 4/5 ratings, but also 10% minimum-score reviews. The breakdown by feature focuses on four attributes, namely ease of installation (4.6), storage capacity (4.5), gaming performance (4.2), and value for money (3.8).
