TeamGroup announces an upgrade to DDR5 for its Elite U-DIMM desktop RAM
TeamGroup had confirmed that it was working on DDR5 RAM for launch in 2021. Now, it asserts that its latest Elite-series sticks will prove leaders in the next generation of desktop memory due to this freshly-minted technology. This is due to advancements such as a step up to a standard clock of 4,800MHz in this new standard, as opposed to 3,200MHz in DDR4 on its release.
The OEM also touts the upcoming Elite variant as improved in terms of power efficiency and stability, thanks to its reduced 1.1V requirement and on-die ECC respectively. TeamGroup also predicts "stronger multitasking" in its new generation of DDR5-enhanced RAM, as it can go up to 128GB per module as opposed to 32GB in its predecessor.
On the other hand, this new 2021 Elite desktop iteration will be available in 16GBx2 configurations to start off with. It is slated to become available via platforms and chains such as Amazon and Micro Center soon. Then again, TeamGroup has yet to announce pricing for this new kind of U-DIMM component.
