AOHi sci-fi-themed "DIY" Charging Dock debuts via Kickstarter

AOHi is an OEM that clearly thinks it's not enough to merely offer a new wireless charger any more - it needs the unique selling point of coming as a little kit on which the user can expend their need for "DIY" fun. Doing so gets the 'builder' a charging station, and also brings the "Future Eternal City" vista the brand aims for with this new "Cyberpunk See-through" accessory to life.

Should the assembly project have gone right, this should mostly consist of a "UFO" on an adjustable stand and a "spacecraft" on the baseplate next to it, which are the product's up-to-10W (in the case of iPhone 12- to 14-series ownership) magnetic wireless charger and up-to-12W USB type-C 5,000mAh (typical capacity) wireless charging power bank respectively.

The latter can also double as a wireless charger itself, albeit at up to 5W. Its station's novel "DIY" aspect might be on the light side in truth for advanced enthusiasts, although AOHi indicates that there may be some wiring and screwdriver use involved in the final product, at least.

Presuming the brand can deliver on this innovative new crowd-funded promise, the Future Eternal City charging station should start shipping in June 2023. It currently starts at US$169, or an estimated 43% off its final retail price, on Kickstarter from today (March 29, 2023).
