AMD is absolutely hammering Intel in CPU sales as even old AM4 chips outsold latest Arrow Lake CPUs last week

It has been a running story over the past months: AMD CPUs are outselling Intel chips by huge margins. According to data shared by TechEpiphany for CPU sales on Mindfactory for the 29th week of 2025, AMD CPUs took a 90% share of the total CPUs sold, while Intel chips only commanded about a 10% market share.
The story becomes even more depressing for Intel when we consider that AMD’s last-gen AM4 CPUs, like the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, sold more than all Intel platforms combined. In other words, Intel’s latest Core Ultra 200 “Arrow Lake” and the 14th-gen CPUs are selling rather poorly.
Looking at some figures, the total number of CPUs sold per platform are reportedly:
- 2,520 units of AM5 CPUs like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- 470 units of AM4 CPUs like the Ryzen 7 5700X3D
- 240 units of Intel’s LGA-1700 chips like the Core i9-14900K
- 90 units of Intel’s latest LGA-1851 Arrow Lake chips
While these numbers only speak for one German retailer, Mindfactory, they represent a broader trend of consumers largely ignoring Intel Core CPUs in favor of AMD Ryzen chips. For instance, Amazon’s best-sellers list, at the time of writing, is dominated by AMD with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D taking the first two spots. There is no Intel CPU in the top 10 best-selling CPUs on Amazon, as Intel makes its first appearance in the list at the 12th place with the Core i7-14700K.
Now, Intel’s abysmal performance here is actually, believe it or not, good for consumers.
Intel Core Ultra 200 Arrow Lake CPUs are enjoying discounts
Since the Core Ultra 200 Arrow Lake chips aren’t selling well, the CPUs are on sale at big discounts. For instance, the Core Ultra 7 265K is currently retailing for just above $270 on Amazon. This 20-core CPU offers good gaming performance and is an absolute beast when it comes to multi-threaded workloads, as shown by RobeyTech.
So, at a 39% discount vs the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a 20% discount vs the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, the Core Ultra 7 265K is a pretty good deal.
Similarly, other members of the Arrow Lake series are also going for less than their official MSRPs. Add in savings on motherboard/RAM combo purchases, and you can make a pretty good gaming PC without spending a ton of cash, provided you can find a good GPU at a reasonable price.
In short, Intel is experiencing a significant decline in CPU sales. However, if things continue to be this rough for the company, we might see even bigger discounts in the future.
