Ever since its launch back in November last year, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has either been flying off the shelves or priced at much higher than MSRP. But, good news for Team Red fans as the highly reviewed processor is back in stock and is selling at MSRP at online retailers. The 9800X3D has been the subject of a lot of news including some unfortunate occurrences of it dying or ceasing to work because of ASRock or MSI motherboards, as well as a recent fake CPU shipment from Amazon.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D availability
At the time of writing, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is available for purchase via Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy at its launch MSRP of $479. The processor was live on B&H Photo as well but it seems to have been sold out already, which means stocks will not last long. There has been high demand for the CPU because of the value and gaming performance it delivers, just like its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D specifications
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture and boasts impressive real-world performance, thanks to its stacked 3D V-cache of 96 MB. While the core count is not that high, considering some of the Intel CPUs, the eight-core and 16-thread configuration is capable of delivering top-tier performance at not that much power draw. The CPU is rated for a default TDP of 120W, with base clock speeds of 4.7 GHz and boost speed of up to 5.2 GHz.
It also supports the latest technologies like Precision Boost 2, PCIe 5.0, AMD EXPO, and others.
In our review of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, we found that it is a first-class gaming CPU with good all-rounder capabilities. It is the fastest gaming CPU on the market, even though the difference in gaming performance compared to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is not that significant.
