A second screen boosts productivity in the home office. But monitors take up a lot of space and are not truly portable. The new Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max solves this problem and proves to be a real hidden gem in our review, even on the go. With its 13.3-inch display in a productivity-friendly 3:2 aspect ratio, the Xiaomi tablet becomes a secondary touchscreen monitor with a simple cable connection.

Anyone who frequently works on the go knows the problem: there is no substitute for screen space. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max proves to be an ideal solution in our review. Thanks to its video input function, Xiaomi's flagship transforms into a fully fledged portable touchscreen monitor for laptops in no time.

The Xiaomi tablet uses a productivity-friendly 3:2 aspect ratio. This format offers significantly more vertical space than 16:10, making it easier to read text, write code or work with long spreadsheets. Combined with the 3.4K resolution for crisp text and the high refresh rate, this delivers buttery-smooth scrolling and makes working easier, whether in your home office or at a café.

In our review with Windows 11, the Xiaomi tablet behaves just like a regular touchscreen monitor, allowing windows to be moved seamlessly back and forth. Setup could not be simpler.

Using a USB-C cable, the Pad 9 Pro Max connects directly to the laptop via its fast USB-C 3.2 port. Both USB-C to USB-C cables and DisplayPort-to-USB-C cables are compatible. According to the manufacturer, the flagship tablet supports signals at up to 3.4K resolution and 120 Hz over this wired connection. Paired with the Xiaomi Focus Pen Pro, the Pad 9 Pro Max becomes a fully fledged pen display.

If you do not have the right cable to hand, you can alternatively use HyperOS connectivity to connect the Xiaomi tablet wirelessly to Windows and Mac devices via “Wireless Display.” The wireless screen extension works, however, only over the same Wi-Fi network.

Perfect for creatives: Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max offers advantages when paired with the TourBox Elite Plus

Creatives who pair the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max with the TourBox Elite Plus also benefit from its hardware advantage over Apple and Samsung. Rather than relying on software solutions that introduce latency, Xiaomi offers an advantage with its USB-C video input. At your desk, a cable turns the Android tablet into a lag-free graphics tablet for the desktop version of Clip Studio Paint.

On the go, the Pad 9 Pro Max then becomes a standalone workstation: pressing a button on the TourBox switches to the second Bluetooth channel, allowing you to continue the same familiar workflow wherever you are.

You can find all the details and measurements for the new Pad 9 Pro Max (starts at around $1,000 Trading Shenzhen) in Notebookcheck's review.
