Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max review
Xiaomi smartphones and tablets running HyperOS 4 now offer native multi language support even when imported directly from China. This means the new Pad 9 Pro Max is no longer limited to English or Chinese. No PC, laptop or root access is required.

Not every tablet or smartphone from Xiaomi is intended for the global market, and this is likely also the case with the new Pad 9 Pro Max. The flagship tablet with the new in-house XRing O3 chipset is currently only available in China. Until now, however, the HyperOS interface did not support multi language support out of the box, offering only English and Chinese language packs.

Morelocal 2 or the “SetEdit” app provide a way to switch imported Chinese smartphones or tablets to the desired language after purchase. However, this type of language adjustment is limited to apps and does not apply to the system interface.

Xiaomi's best Android tablet with a multilingual language pack

While buyers of a Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra still had to accept significant limitations in their choice of language, users of the new Pad 9 Pro Max can enjoy native German, French or Portuguese language support. The most important Google services are already preinstalled on Xiaomi's current best tablet and simply need to be activated. This is done by installing the Play Store.

Most imported devices, such as those from Trading Shenzhen, which provided our review unit, already have the Play Store preinstalled. Otherwise, simply download the APK file and install the app yourself.

The 2026 flagship tablet turns heads with the Xring O3

With the Pad 9 Pro Max, Xiaomi delivers one of the most powerful Android tablets of the year. The new Xring O3 offers exceptional performance, even surpassing the iPad Air M4 or iPad Pro M5 in some graphics benchmarks. Other highlights include a premium chassis measuring just 5.7 millimeters thick, a bright 13.3-inch display without PWM flickering, long battery life and a comprehensive feature set including Wi-Fi 7, USB 3.2 with video output and versatile accessories.

To find out what weaknesses we identified in our review of the Pad 9 Pro Max (starts at around $1,000 Trading Shenzhen), read the Notebookcheck review.
