8BitDo's Tomb Raider controllers get a launch date

A little over a week ago, 8BitDo shared the first teaser for its Tomb Raider 30th anniversary controllers. It has posted other teasers after that, but its most recent one now includes a launch date for the new controllers.

According to a post on its social media channels, the Tomb Raider 30th anniversary controllers will be announced at 8 AM PT on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The announcement includes a short teaser video that gives us a glimpse at a Tomb Raider-branded charging dock.

While the teaser is dark, we took a screenshot and brightened the image, and it shows that it is the charging dock for the 8BitDo Pro 3. The controller can also be seen at the back after brightening the image.

Nevertheless, the teaser shows that the dock will have the name of the game printed in yellow against a backdrop of a rocky vegetation. Also, based on the caption and one of the hashtags, it appears the design of this particular controller will be inspired by the Lost Valley level from the 1996 Tomb Raider game.

So far, we know the two 8BitDo Tomb Raider 30th anniversary controllers will be based on the Ultimate 3 and Pro 3 controllers. The former was released this year and hit store shelves in late August (available on Amazon for $99.99). The 8BitDo Pro 3, released in 2025 is the cheaper one with symmetrical thumbsticks and can be purchased in four colors (available on Amazon for $69.99).

It is worth mentioning that while the controllers will be announced on September 24, their release date will most likely be weeks later.
