Razer launches Tartarus V2 Pro globally: Part keyboard, part controller

Razer recently unveiled the Tartarus V2 Pro, a one-handed gaming keypad designed to bridge the gap between a conventional keyboard and controller. It provides 31 programmable controls alongside a full-sized, anti-drift TMR thumbstick and three dedicated thumb buttons. The design is aimed at keeping frequently used commands within reach while reducing the footprint of a traditional keyboard.

According to Razer, this is the first time that its keypads have combined 8000Hz HyperPolling, second-generation analog optical switches and TMR stick technology. Twenty-four keys use those switches, with actuation adjustable from 0.1 to 4.0mm. Other features include Rapid Trigger mode, Snap Tap, Snap Flex, Dynamic Keystroke and Dual-Keypress Priority.

Customization is central to the device, with Synapse (Razer’s software for configuring and customizing its gaming peripherals) supporting up to 24 keymaps across three onboard profiles. The adjustable wrist rest can slide and rotate to accommodate different hand positions. In testing, CGMagazine found the keypad particularly useful for one-handed gaming and praised its small footprint and comfortable wrist support.

The Tartarus V2 Pro carries an MSRP of $199.99, £199.99 or €219.99, along with a 2-year warrant, and is available via Razer's own stores and select retailers worldwide.
