Elecrow ThinkNode M9: Mobile messenger with GPS and keyboard enables off-grid communication

Elecrow has expanded its product lineup with the ThinkNode M9, a compact handheld designed for long-distance communication. Instead of relying on LTE or 5G, the device utilizes LoRa and MeshCore protocols. This enables users to establish independent mesh networks that operate completely without cellular infrastructure - making it ideal for outdoor adventures or emergency scenarios like power outages.

According to the manufacturer, the ThinkNode M9 works right out of the box; users simply need to join a compatible MeshCore network. A smartphone connection is not required, as messages can be typed directly on the physical keyboard and viewed on the display. Menu navigation is handled via dedicated function buttons above the keypad. Power is provided by a 2,300 mAh battery rated for two to three days of standby time.

Location tracking is enabled by an integrated multi-constellation GNSS receiver supporting GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou. An onboard compass aids navigation, making it useful for transmitting location data or guiding lost group members.

Additional connectivity includes Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The device measures 126 x 67 x 10.3 mm and houses a 2.4-inch display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The non-touch TN panel offers a peak brightness of 200 cd/m². Processing is handled by an ESP32-S3 microcontroller, paired with a Semtech LR1110 wireless module. The Elecrow ThinkNode M9 is available directly from the manufacturer for just under $75, offered in both 868 MHz and 915 MHz frequency variants.
