8BitDo has confirmed that it will be offering a new set of colourful Bluetooth wireless controllers soon. Also boasting translucent finishes, the Prototype Limited Editions will be sold worldwide, too.

8BitDo finally started shipping the Classic Grey variant of its 8BitDo 64 controller at the end of last month. Announced in November, the Classic Grey variant retails for $5 more than the Black or White versions that served as the 8BitDo 64's launch colours (curr. $39.99 on Amazon). Around that time, 8BitDo also presented eight 'Funtastic Limited Editions' with translucent shells to join an equivalent Analogue 3D refresh.

In short, the accompanying Analogue 3D Funtastic Limited Editions immediately sold out on the day of release. Almost two months later, and 8BitDo is still stocking these Clear, Fire, Gold, Grape, Ice, Jungle, Smoke and Watermelon finishes on its website. Nonetheless, it has now announced that another five translucent 8BitDo 64 controllers are set to launch next week.

Coinciding with another Analogue 3D drop, the Prototype Limited Editions are said to represent the five colours that Nintendo had prototyped for the original Nintendo 64. 8BitDo will begin selling its new Atomic Purple, Extreme Green, Ocean, Ghost and Glacier finishes from 16:00 UTC on February 9 via the 8BitDo Shop. 8BitDo has not confirmed pricing or shipment dates yet. However, we would expect the Prototype Limited Editions to cost as much as the Funtastic Limited Editions, which run to $44.99 each.
