$1 Game Pass trial goes MIA as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launch nears
Once again, Microsoft has decided to short of the $1 Game Pass trial that's supposed to offer gamers a 14-day preview of what the subscription service has to offer. The timing seems suspiciously close to the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launch.
The $1 trial (£1 in the UK, Rs 50 in India) initially lasted as much as an entire month before getting done away with in March 2023. Instead, Microsoft introduced a referral program for PC Game Pass that allowed existing members to invite other PC users to try the service out for 14 days. The company then brought the trial back in August but reduced it to 14 days, weeks ahead of Bethesda's Starfield launch.

Per Microsoft's decision, Black Ops 6 will only be available via PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions (on consoles) despite the company promising to make all first-party releases available for all Game Pass subscribers to play from day one.
It could be argued that this measure is a deterrent for would-be cheaters looking to access the multiplayer mode on the cheap, possibly by using several accounts.
