An image of a mock-up of a GPD Win Max handheld gaming PC has been shared on Reddit, drawing out a mixed response from redditors. The picture shows a printed cut-out that has been placed on top of a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop to give an idea of the Win Max’s dimensions. A list of rumored specifications has also been posted online.

The GPD Win Max, which is expected to be released either by the end of 2019 or at the start of 2020, is yet another eagerly awaited computer from the Chinese manufacturer GamePad Digital. We recently reported on leaked images about the mini-laptop that showed it will sport an AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 chip (possibly the V1605B). A new image relating to the Win Max has been greeted with mixed feelings.

Commentators are concerned about a number of issues that are revealed by the mock-up of the GPD Win Max resting on a ThinkPad. The keyboard is quite large and there are concerns that holding the device for a long time during gaming sessions would lead to hand fatigue. The overall weight of the GPD Win Max is unknown, but if it is too heavy then it will be unwieldy. The location of the game controls could also make the mini-laptop difficult to hold. Questions have been raised about the six-row keyboard, with some opining that GPD should devise a five-row solution.

Rumored specifications for the GPD Win Max in addition to the already mentioned embedded chip from AMD include 8 GB RAM, M.2-2280 SSD storage, 8-inch display with 1280x720 resolution, 2x USB Type-A ports, 1x USB Type-C, HDMI, microSD card slot, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Obviously, these are all just rumors at the moment, and GPD has plenty of time to revise its Win Max to make it as appealing as possible to the company’s dedicated fanbase.
