A renowned leaker has provided details about the camera system in Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone, thought to be the MIX 5 Pro or the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Xiaomi is expected to launch the device in March 2022.

Digital Chat Station has shared new details about the cameras in Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone. While the company is yet to release the Xiaomi 12 or Xiaomi 12 Pro globally, rumour has it that an even more potent smartphone is in the works. Originally thought of as the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, various leakers now believe that the device will arrive as the MIX 5 Pro, instead.

Reputedly, Xiaomi will equip the MIX 5 Pro with a 50 MP primary camera, likely a larger sensor than the 50 MP one found in the Xiaomi 12 Pro. For reference, the Mi 11 Ultra also has a 50 MP main camera that has a larger sensor and pixels than the equivalent in the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

Additionally, Digital Chat Station asserts that the device has dual 48 MP ultra-wide-angle and periscope cameras. However, Xiaomi is expected to equip the MIX 5 Pro with five rear-facing cameras. Conceivably, Xiaomi could include two telephoto cameras, like Samsung does on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, and even a dedicated portrait camera.

Unfortunately, the MIX 5 Pro may be a Chinese-exclusive, mirroring the MIX 4. Reportedly, Xiaomi will unveil the MIX 5 series in March, a year on from the Mi 11 Ultra and seven months after the MIX 4.
