The 18-inch category is home to some of the largest gaming laptops money can buy. Their sheer size allows for additional performance when compared to smaller options even when configured with the same CPU or GPU. They often come with extra enthusiast features as well, but the latest 18-inch Lenovo in particular gets it right when it comes to upgradeability.
As mentioned in our review of the model, the Legion 9 18IAX10 is one of the very few 18-inch gaming laptops to have four M.2 2280 SSD slots and four DDR5 SODIMM slots. One of the four SSD slots supports PCIe5 x4 drives for even faster transfer rates. In comparison, even MSI's biggest gaming laptop the Titan 18 HX offers both fewer SSD and DDR5 RAM slots for more limited upgradeability options. Similar results can be drawn when comparing the Razer Blade 18 or Alienware 18 Area-51 to our Lenovo. The MSI Titan and Alienware 18 in particular are much larger than our Legion 9 18 and so its surprising to see the Lenovo come out on top in this particular case.
Aside from its storage and RAM capabilities, the Legion 9 18 is one of the few in its category to come with a mandatory glossy IPS display and have no support for Thunderbolt 5. More information about the model can be found on our full overview of the Lenovo laptop here.
