The fastest gaming laptop we've ever tested is here and its the Legion 9i which has a brand new design for 2025. With an RTX 5090 and Intel Ultra 9 275HX, we put this up to some of the best gaming laptops with AMD and Intel CPUs alongside the RTX 4090. Well it turns out that the Legion 9i is amazing in a lot of ways but it falls short in others.

78% Lenovo Legion 9i review: A stunning gaming laptop with one big weakness
Source: PC World English
The Lenovo Legion 9i is a design statement that looks great and proves enjoyable to use day-to-day. It also delivers strong game performance and an incredible array of leading-edge ports. These benefits are countered by a mediocre display with a 1200p/440Hz (or, alternatively, glasses-free 3D) mode that’s of questionable use. CPU performance also fell short of expectations. Still, the Legion 9i is a reasonable choice if you care mostly about GPU performance and will often connect the laptop to an external display.

89.1% Legion 9 18IAX10 review: Lenovo's first 18-inch gaming laptop is almost a home run | Notebookcheck
Despite being a bit late to the 18-inch gaming ring, the Lenovo Legion 9 18 is easily one of the best in its size category even when up against seasoned models like the MSI Titan or Razer Blade 18.
Lenovo Legion 9i (18″, Gen 10) review – RTX 5090 Power & Forged Carbon
Source: Laptop Media English
The Lenovo Legion 9i (18″, Gen 10) is a tour de force, a machine that redefines the upper limits of what a gaming laptop can be. It is an unapologetic, ultra-premium powerhouse that combines exotic materials, cutting-edge engineering, and sheer brute force into a package that is as stunning to look at as it is to use. This is not just a computer; it’s a showcase of the absolute best technology currently available, designed for the enthusiast who demands zero compromises. While it comes with a price tag to match its ambition and a few thermal quirks, the Legion 9i justifies its existence by delivering a user experience that is unrivaled in its class. It is a masterpiece of luxury gaming.

70% I expected a bit more from this powerhouse gaming laptop
Source: How to Geek English
While I'd love to recommend the Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 10 gaming laptop to everyone, its flaws were a bit hard to overlook. Specifically, I'd say it's an excellent laptop for gamers who want top-tier gaming performance, a large, impressive display, and a sleek design. Beyond that, I think most users should look elsewhere if they're hoping for an all-around desktop replacement. Some blips in everyday performance, a boxy-sounding speaker system, and no OLED display option make me feel more inclined to recommend other options for those seeking a do-it-all laptop. At a similar price point is the Razer Blade 16 (2025), for example, or the aforementioned Alienware 16 Area-51.

As for the battery life, while the 99.9Wh battery isn’t going to get you through a 12-hour session of gaming, it is in line with what I’ve seen from similar rigs. The note on battery life worth mentioning, though, is Lenovo’s Super Rapid Charge feature, which sees the battery go from 0-100% in 80 minutes, with a 30-minute charge getting you all the way to 70%. It’s the first time I’ve seen a rapid charge system at play in a premium gaming laptop, and I am impressed. While not the most powerful of this generation’s 18-inch gaming laptops, the Legion offers some of the best dollar of hardware value I’ve seen. Cheaper than all of the other models I’ve mentioned, the Legion 9i offers a similar top-tier gaming experience at a fraction of the price of the competition. While subjective, it’s also the best looking while doing it with the RGB lighting and textured cover plate being standout features.

90% Lenovo Legion 9i review (2025 18IAX10 model, 18 inch, RTX 5090)
Source: Ultrabook Review English
The 2025 refresh of the Lenovo Legion 9i is arguably the best-balanced 18-inch high-performance/gaming laptop available in stores today. It's not without some quirks, but it checks almost all of the right boxes when it comes to build quality, functionality and capabilities, while generally running at lower temperatures and fan noise than the competition in its segment. It's only available with glossy IPS displays, though, and it's a heavy chassis even for its niche, so make sure you're fine with these aspects before jumping on it.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.

In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.

In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.

These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop: The GeForce RTX 5090 Mobile uses the GB203 chip and utilizes 10,496 shaders / CUDA cores of the maximum 10,752 that the chip has. This makes the RTX 5090 Laptop more similar to the RTX 5080 desktop variant (same chip) than the Desktop RTX 5090 with 20,760 cores and higher clock rates.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop: A fast graphics card from the Blackwell family for laptops that is based on the GB203 chip and uses 8,192 shaders and 16 GB GDDR7 graphics memory (256-bit graphics bus).

3.5 kg:

A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.

3.532 kg:

Only a few laptops are in this weight class because the mobility is rather limited due to the high weight.

83.65%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
