The Samsung Galaxy Watch series' 8th generation is thought to consist of 2 variants, 1 of which might be known as the Watch8 Classic.
Should that be the case, it would be a slightly strange choice of name, as the putative One UI Watch flagship is also thought to debut with the OEM's latest design for premium wearables, marked by a vaguely squat squircle housing intended to distinguish its owner as Samsung's Apple Watch Ultra 2 rival.
The "Watch8 Classic" is also now said to be like the Galaxy Watch Ultra (still $300 on Amazon today (May 20, 2025)) in that it will still charge at just 10 watts (W).
It has allegedly appeared on the database of the Chinese regulator 3C as the Samsung SM-L5050 alongside the "Watch8" (Samsung SM-L3350), which has also apparently been approved to use the same charging speed.
Those model numbers do not match up exactly with those from previous leaks, although the inconsistency could have explanations such as regional variation.
Should this new tip prove genuine, it might mean that the Watch8 and its Classic sibling might charge no faster than their vanilla Watch7 forebear.
Samsung is likely to justify the choice by arguing that owners of older Galaxy Watches will be able to keep their old chargers should they upgrade in 2025, anyway.
