Samsung Galaxy S24 as an AI phone: Numerous images display the many improvements of One UI 6.1 in detail
An X user recently gave a foretaste of One UI 6.1 in regard to the three new modes of battery protection options. These can be seen in photos and screenshots circulating online, such as the three images below, which were published by @WigettaGaming on X (formerly Twitter).
Generative AI is making massive inroads into One UI 6.1
This is just the beginning of the current One UI 6.1 leaks. Along with X user @BennettBuhner, there are plenty more screenshots of the new features and functions of the Samsung Android 14 interface, which appears to brings much more than the minimal jump in the version number would suggest. The keyword here is artificial intelligence (AI), especially in the form of its generative variant.
Under the title "AI for everyone", Samsung will have a lot to say at CES in January. The One UI 6.1 update, which will be launched shortly thereafter with the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, already has plenty of AI to offer. The screenshots below show how you can use AI features to create individual wallpapers and quickly change the weather on the lock screen, for example.
But we already know this from Pixel, right?
If you're thinking about Google's Pixel 8, you're not entirely mistaken. The upcoming features sound a little like what the AI professionals at Google are already offering with the Magic Editor. Users can move objects in photos or copy them from one photo to another or virtually enlarge a scene, i.e. AI simply adds appropriate content to the sides. Unwanted reflections and shadows can be 'magically' removed. In Samsung Notes, AI will also help with formatting and cleaning up in the future.
Live Translate: Real-time translation when making calls
What Samsung had already officially announced is also shown in the leaked OneUI 6.1 screenshots. Calls can be translated in real time, video conferences can be 'tuned' by reducing background noise or filtering out the background. Copying text from photos could also prove useful, although this will apparently be limited to some Samsung apps.
What will work on Galaxy S23 and the like?
It remains unclear which of the One UI 6.1 features will work on older Galaxy phones such as the Galaxy S23 series (purchase the S23, S23+ or S23 Ultra at Best Buy). A number of Samsung phones will certainly receive the new OneUI version, but it remains questionable whether all of the aforementioned features will indeed be activated.
