Rockstar Games announces official GTA VI trailer dropping next month

The Grand Theft Auto franchise has not seen a major release in a little over 10 years now, but fans already know the 6th installment is well on its way thanks to the early leaks from September 2022. Rockstar Games did its best to damage control the leak, and everyone started speculating on the release date. Most predictions were betting on a 2025 launch window, but since Rock Star games just announced that the trailer is arriving next month, we can hope for a 2024 release.

Sam Houser, founder and president of Rockstar Games posted on X (Twitter) regarding the 25th anniversary of the company:

In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.

We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.

According to Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, the announcement is tied with the Q3 2023 financial report releasing today. Videocardz suggests that the trailer could be released during this year’s The Game Awards event streaming on December 7.

From what we have seen in the leaked gameplay videos, GTA VI would have two main protagonists: a man and, for the first time, a woman. The developers plan to capitalize on nostalgia as the action takes place in Miami, which influenced the creation of GTA 3 Vice City more than 2 decades ago.
