Reviews of the RTX 5070 are out and the card is nowhere near as impressive as Nvidia had made it out to be during the CES 2025 unveiling. In fact, the reception of the RTX 5070 is so bad that Gamers Nexus states that “Nvidia is selling lies” while Hardware Unboxed has called the GPU “the worst 70 series ever”.
So, the RTX 5070 is not a good GPU launch by popular consensus and this sets the stage perfectly for the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT. AMD’s debut RDNA 4 cards are set to launch tomorrow on March 6th starting at $549 (RX 9070) and the $599 (RX 9070 XT). In addition to these lucrative launch prices, AMD also seems to have prepared tons more stock of the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT for the launch.
Multiple reports have now surfaced online stating that buyers will find it much easier to buy the RX 9070/9070 XT than the RTX 50 cards. Moore’s Law Is Dead has also chimed in with some juicy details and the resulting information should make gamers really happy.
RX 9070 and 9070 XT launch stock
It is no secret that the supply of the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 at launch was quite bad. To this day, more than a month after the RTX 50 release, it is nearly impossible to find the RTX 5080 and the RTX 5090 at the official MSRPs. The same can be said for the RTX 5070 Ti which also had its fair share of launch troubles.
Thankfully, Moore’s Law Is Dead claims that the supply of the RX 9070 XT at launch is pretty good and is expected to be 3 to 10 times better than what we saw with the RTX 5080. However, MLID claims that a “decent amount of supply is above MSRP”. But, the RX 9070 XT’s $599 MSRP is reportedly not “as fake” as Nvidia’s pricing for the RTX 50 GPUs.
So, while you might see more RX 9070 XT priced above $599, if MLID's report is accurate, you should be able to buy one at the official starting price.
Finally, the leaker also reveals that there will be considerably more RX 9070 XT supply than the RX 9070. The leaker compares the supply of the RX 9070 to the RX 6800, a weaker version of the RX 6800 XT. This is not surprising since AMD pricing the RX 9070 just $50 lower than the XT is proof enough that the company wants gamers to buy the XT.
RTX 5070 launch supply
In addition to discussing the RX 9070/XT, MLID also leaks information about the launch stock of the RTX 5070. The RTX 5070 is expected to have an equally bad supply at launch as other RTX 50 GPUs. The GPU will also allegedly see terrible AIB pricing. And, to make matters worse, the supply situation isn’t expected to improve in the short term.
In other words, the stars seem to have aligned perfectly for the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT to gain some much-needed market share. Let's if the cards deliver on AMD’s promises.
