Nvidia has managed to repeat the woes of GeForce RTX 40 series stock shortages with the release of new GeForce RTX 50 cards. As a result, even mid-range options like the GeForce RTX 5070 and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti cannot be picked up for anywhere close to MSRP. Instead, sellers have often priced these graphics cards at several hundred dollars than Nvidia has indicated they should do.
By contrast, Hardware Canucks and Hardware Unboxed have gleaned from their sources that stock levels of the Radeon RX 9070 XT will be far more generous when pre-orders open on Thursday. Allegedly, some retailers have confirmed that they have received more Radeon RX 9070 XT than all of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 series. As Hardware Unboxed has therefore inferred, for the Radeon RX 9070 XT to sell out on launch day, it must outsell all GeForce RTX 50 cards combined.
The Radeon RX 9070 XT will effectively succeed the Radeon RX 7800 XT (curr. $539.99 on Amazon) with 64 Compute Units (CUs) based on AMD's Navi 48 GPU and RDNA 4 architecture. While it remains to be seen how the Radeon RX 9070 XT will stand up against the GeForce RTX 5070, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and other recent Nvidia graphics cards, AMD has priced it competitively. Specifically, the Radeon RX 9070 XT will start at $599, $50 more than the Radeon RX 9070.
