PocketBook InkPad Color 3 introduced as new waterproof E-reader with improved colour display
PocketBook has introduced the InkPad Color 3, an E-reader that will be available in November. Available to pre-order already, the E-reader price matches its predecessor but contains a few welcome upgrades. For example, PocketBook has certified the InkPad Color 3 to IPX8, which represents waterproofing in up to a metre of water for over 30 minutes. However, the 'X' in its IP rating means that PocketBook has not tested the device for dust resistance.
Additionally, the InkPad Color 3 has a Kaleido 3 display that can show 4,096 colours, a 50% improvement on its predecessor's panel. Moreover, the 7.8-inch display outputs at 939 x 702 pixels with a 150 DPI pixel density in colour mode. Conversely, enabling greyscale boosts the resolution and pixel density to 1,404 x 1,872 and 300 DPI, respectively.
Furthermore, the InkPad Color 3 supports 25 book and graphic formats without resorting to conversion. Separately, the e-Reader measures 134 x 189 x 7.9 mm and weighs 270 g. For now, the company has outlined key specifications, as well as launch pricing. Specifically, PocketBook has priced the InkPad Color 3 at €319, which comes in a sole Stormy Sea colourway.
