Teclast M50 Pro: Good multimedia tablet at a budget price

Despite the low price, the Teclast M50 Pro comes with a power supply and USB cable.
The Teclast M50 Pro surprised us in our tests with its solid specs. Although the 10.1-inch Android tablet costs less than US$200, it cuts a good figure as a surfing and multimedia tablet and combines this with 4 speakers, dual-SIM and an IPS display in 16:10 format.

The Teclast M50 Pro garners sympathy right from the outset thanks to its low entry price. The 10.1-inch tablet equipped with Android 13 is priced at exactly US199.99. In our review, it scores points with, among other things, good build quality and a stylish, 435-gram light aluminum chassis.

Solo entertainer with dual SIM

If you're looking for a cheap tablet for multimedia use, the M50 Pro is a solid choice. Thanks to DRM Widevine L1, it supports HD streaming, has 4 speakers, dual SIM and a headphone jack and also offers just over 230 GB of storage space, which can be expanded via microSD card.

Since Teclast does not use pulse width modulation (PWM) on its multimedia tablet to adjust the display brightness, the M50 Pro is also suitable for users who are sensitive to PWM flickering.

Compromises on equipment

It's obvious that the comparatively low purchase price means that cuts had to made in one or two places. The battery life and charging are not exactly impressive, games usually only run smoothly at low details, and the IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 is a bit too dim for outdoor use.

Nonetheless, the bottom line is that the Teclast still has a lot of positives going for it. The only thing that can't be glossed over is the cameras because, like many other cheap tablets, they are only a stopgap measure and can only manage slightly above-average snapshot quality.
