Intel Atom N450-based netbooks will start shipping on January 11, 2010
Major PC Vendors apparently comply with an agreement they have with Intel
The much anticipated next-generation netbooks, which were supposed to be introduced in December this year, will reportedly launch on January 11, 2010.
According to Digitimes, several major netbook manufacturers will introduce their new Atom N450-based ultraportable devices in January next year. Allegedly, Asustek Computer, Acer, MSI (Micro-Star International) and Lenovo are following an agreement with Intel not to ship next-gen netbooks before January 10, 2010.
Supposedly, smaller PC vendors will also launch new products after January in Europe and the US. Intel Atom N450-based netbooks will come with different operating systems – Windows 7 Starter Edition, Windows XP Home Edition and Moblin Linux. Apparently, vendors will most probably prefer the Win 7 models as they might generate greater revenues.
Many customers are probably excited that Google’s Chrome OS will enter the “fight” in the second half of 2010 as it will cause some changes in this dominated by Windows OS market.
Customers may take advantage of the alleged price cuts for current 10-inch devices, especially after the launch of the Atom N470 scheduled for March 2010.
