Adamo (Latin for "I fall in love with") is a subnotebook by Dell which focuses on design and mobility. It was released on 17^th March, 2009 in the United States and was claimed to be the “world’s thinnest laptop.” but no more, Dell has unveiled another notebook named the Dell Adamo XPS which it claims is the world’s thinnest laptop measuring just 9.99-mm thin (0.39 inches) and weighing only 1.5 pounds.

The Dell Adamo XPS has a unique heat-sensitive latch. To be more specific, it is a heat-sensing strip on the lip that, when swiped with a finger, glows white and automatically opens the aluminum lid. The hinge also has a unique design that allows ease of typing and also makes room for air circulation underneath the laptop.

Dell's Adamo XPS appears to be more of an experiment in design than a practical laptop. I say this because it has a sleek and stylish design which matches the aesthetics of the Adamo line-up, but it sadly lacks the hardware prowess you expect from the XPS family.

Now for the hardware specs which are underwhelming for a $2,000 laptop, under the hood we have nothing extraordinary:

The XPS will run on either a 1.4 or a 1.9GHz Intel dual core CPU which will be supported by the integrated X4500MHD graphics and 4GB of DDR3 memory. Users can opt for a 128GB or 180GB SSD drive for storage. The 20Wh battery will provide 2.5 hours of battery backup on a single charge while the optional 40Wh battery can run the system for a decent four hours.

Now for some bad news, this machine got a Windows 7 Experience test rating of 3.3, which is very low for a notebook with such a hefty price tag and hey did I mention that the touch sensitive case latch won’t be working without power!!! Now that simply means you can't open the machine if your battery is dead. Interesting isn’t it….
