Highton launches four new UMPCs

Highton UMPC and Netbook Co. Ltd., located in Shenzhen China, is a manufacturer, supplier and vendor of all kinds of UMPC, netbooks, and mini portable laptops, including 4.3'',7'',8.9'',10'' mini laptops. Highton claims that its products are cheap, portable, easy to learn, easy to work, and easy to play with. Recently, this Shenzhen based company launched four new UMPC models which have been designed in-house. Shenzhen is rather known for making look-alikes (we have seen quite a few models like Apple MacBook, Sony Vaio, and so on) but, Highton claims that the designs have been made in-house and are completely original.

The details of the four new UMPC models are as follows:

HA708 – This device is a 7-inch slate running on a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M 772 processor and uses the VIA VX700 chipset. It has 1GB DDR2 RAM and uses a 16GB SSD for storage. Other features include:

• 7 inch TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels
• Windows XP / Linux operating system
• Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Ethernet, Bluetooth, support for USB wireless 3G modem
• 1.3MP webcam
• 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, Audio in/out, SD card slot, Express card slot
• 6400mAH Lithium batteries (good for up to 6-8 hours of usage as per company claims)
• Size: 200x120x23-35 cm
• Weight: 0.8Kg

HV-S760 – This device has a 7-inch TFT LCD touchscreen that can be swiveled 180° to transform into a tablet PC. The shell is made out of a very high grade Aluminum-magnesium alloy. It is powered by a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M 772 Esther processor and uses the VIA VX700 chipset. It has 1GB DDR2 RAM and a 1.8-inch 60GB (@4200rpm) SATA hard disk. Other features include:

• 7inch TFT 1024×600 resolution (16: 9) LED backlit display with touchscreen panel
• Windows XP / Linux operating system
• Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Ethernet, Bluetooth v2.0, optional GPS
• 1.3MP webcam
• 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, Audio in/out, MMC/SD card slot, S-video out
• 4400mAH Lithium batteries (standby time = 4hours)
• Size: 230x165x32-mm

HT-P68 – This model has a 10.2-inch, 1024x600 pixel touchscreen display which is powered by the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor. It uses the Intel 945GSE chipset, 1GB DDR2 RAM, and a 2.5-inch 160GB SATA hard disk. Other features include:

• Windows XP Home / Vista / Linux operating system
• Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Ethernet, optional 3G/3.5G HSDPA/WCDMA card
• 1.3MP webcam
• 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, Audio in/out, 4-in-1 card reader, integrated microphone
• 3-cell 2600mAH Lithium batteries (company claims usage time of 2.5 hours)
• Kensington Lock
• Size: 280mm(W)x180mm(D)x24mm(H)
• Weight: 1.03Kg (including battery)

HS- 990 – This device runs on a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, and 160GB SATA hard disk. It has a 10.2-inch rotatable touch screen TFT display with a maximum resolution of 1024x600 pixels.  Other features are as follows:

• Windows XP / Linux operating system
• Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g, Ethernet
• 1.3MP webcam
• 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, Audio in/out, SD card slot, 4-in-1 card reader
• 3-cell 2200mAH Lithium batteries (good for up to 160 minutes of usage as per company claims)
• Size: 200x120x23-35 cm
• Weight: 0.8Kg
