The ultra-portable computer sports a DVD drive
Overview
The computer hardware company Gateway, headquartered in Irvine, California has introduced earlier this year the ultra-portable EC14D notebook. The device is allegedly up for pre-order on Amazon and is priced at US $629.99.
Configuration
It is important to point out, that this particular laptop is among the few of its class that sport a built-in DVD Burner. Furthermore, the EC14D is powered by an ultra-low voltage Intel SU4100 central processing unit with a clock frequency of 1.3GHz. Gateway’s mini-notebook is equipped with an 11.6-inch Ultrabright HD LED backlit display with a maximum resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels.
Customers are also provided with 4GB of internal DDR2 memory and a storage capacity of 320GB in form of a 5400RPM SATA hard drive. The graphics controller is an Intel GMA 4500MHD, which sports both dedicated and shared video RAM.
Connectivity
The CULV ultra-portable PC features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n module, which lets you stay connected. In addition, there are three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI interface, Multi-in-1 card reader slot and VGA out. An integrated web camera is also available for video conferencing.
Other specs and Pricing
The Gateway EC14D comes with a pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and weighs 3.55 lbs (1.61kg). Further features include a keyboard with a multi-gesture touchpad and a high-definition audio. The company promises a battery life of up to 8-hours on single charge of the 6-cell 5600mAh Lithium-Ion battery.
This mini-laptop is available on Amazon to consumers for pre-order with a price (as mentioned above) of US $629.99 (€464/£419).
