The 11.6-inch netbook has the specs of a full-sized laptop, but with a slightly slower processor.
The Acer Aspire 1551 was announced last month, and in case you set your eyes on it, you can now pre-order it on onsale.com for $506.99. At this price, you get the widescreen 11.6” 1366 x 768 display and an AMD dual-core Athlon II Neo K325 with 1.3GHz clock speed or a dual-core Athlon II Neo K625 processor with a clock speed of 1.5GHz.
Apart from that, the 1551 has up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 320GB of hard disk space, an integrated ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics card and AMD M880G chipset. The I/O ports include 3 USB 2.0 ports, card reader, HDMI out, VGA out, Gigabyte LAN, Dolby Headphone, Natural Bass, Sound Space Expander, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 3G and optional Bluetooth.
You should definitely go for the 6-cell 5800mAh battery over the 4400mAh one to get at least an extra hour of mobility. The 1.4kg machine comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium.
