The battle of the top CULV notebooks
We found out a contest about the CULVs
CULV is coming up in the manufacturer’s mind in a big way, as they serve big in saving energy, giving more battery life – ideal for netbooks. Their performance is also much better than the usual N270/N280s. Also you get the benefits of a dual core processor. Look at Macbook Air – it learns a long ago that CULV is the way.
Now as more and more notebooks come with these CULV processors, Gizmodo held onto four of them to do a comparison. Also they find out why instead of buying a 10” or 11.6”, go for one of these CULV notebooks with screen just bigger than 12”. You may have to spend nearly double for them, but in the long run, you won’t curse yourself if you’re like me – don’t give up technical comfort for physical.
Each of the four notebooks is equipped with 1.3GHz Intel ultra low voltage (ULV) processor and Windows 7 Home Premium. This should be good enough for your every day multimedia needs. You can’t judge them by playing Far Cry 2, they are not meant for that.
The four samples tested were the Asus U30A-A1, Acer Aspire Timeline AS3810T-8737, HP Pavilion dm3 and the Toshiba Satellite T135. Aus takes the crown in Gizmodo’s testing, which tested all these in terms of design, ergonomics, battery life, keyboard etc. Read about it more here.
