Samsung releases the much anticipated (oh really!) N110 and N120 netbook models in the US market.

South-Korean electronics giant Samsung electronics made the two new netbooks N110 and N120 available in the US market yesterday. It was long due though, after a lot of unconfirmed rumors and lack of any official announcements.

What points of difference the N110 and the N120 would give you? Well, nothing much extra than a standard netbook can’t give you. A few good features include the keyboard on both the models which is very near to the full-sized ones. In fact in N120 the keyboard is almost 97% of the full-size ones. Both the netbooks are almost identical except minor differences like the keyboard (N110 has a 93% keyboard), and N120 having an improved audio system with 2.1-channel speaker system for better built-in sound, in the process reducing the life of the 6-cell battery to a great level. The N120 is also bigger.

N110

Powered by a 1.6-GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP Home, and a 160GB hard drive – the N110 has a pretty executive look, that can appeal to the consumer as well. Samsung gave it a sexier look this time around with the glossy black lid and a red line along the border that shows the executive side of look. The N110 has a 10.2-inch matte display with 1024 x 600 resolution. It has the Intel GMA 950 to take care of the graphics, which is slightly faster than the 900 but still can’t handle today’s most games. Along with the 802.11g WiFi, Bluetooth and 1.3MP webcam, the 6-cell battery can give you up to 7 hours of no strings attached time. It comes with Windows XP Home.

This 2.8-pound, 1.2-inches thick machine retails at $469 – which is a bit expensive for the configurations it has.

N120

The N120 is powered by a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor with 1 GB RAM and a 160GB hard disk –same as the N120. It has a decent 10.1” screen with a resolution of 1024 X 600. Despite the 6 cell battery it weighs only 2.8 pounds, has a 3 in 1 multicard reader and the standard WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 and an Ethernet Jack. In spite of having a 6-cell battery (though 5200mAh as compared to 5900 mAh in the N110), it gives less life than the N110 due to the improved audio quality – which also makes it $10 cheaper. Samsung N120 is available in two colors black and white.

It is slightly bigger than the N110 with dimension of 10.71'' (W) x 1.71'' (H) x 7.4'' (D) as compared to 10.27'' (W) x 1.19'' (H) x 7.3'' (D) of the N110.
