Viliv S7 battery gets tested
Although it doesn’t meet the claims made by the company, it still provides a good backup
Viliv came out with an official announcement regarding its new S7 UMPC a couple of weeks ago. The S7 convertible touchscreen UMPC would be available in three different models each powered by a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor and 1GB RAM. It has a 7-inch 1024 x 600 resistive touchscreen display, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a sturdy build quality. The S7 comes with either a 60GB HDD or a 32GB SSD. The device is powered by a 2-cell 4700mAh Lithium polymer battery which can run the S7 for a good 9.5 hours on a single charge, as per company claims.
Lazion.com, based in Korea, went out to test the Viliv S7 for its battery life. The results of the tests revealed that the S7 could not cross the 8-hour mark, which is about 1.5 hours less than that claimed by the company. The test results are given below:
· Video playback: 6 hours, 13 minutes (DivX, 720 x 400, bit rate 1.64Mbps, wireless off, max screen brightness, maximum volume); 7 hours, 28 minutes (XviD, 640 x 480, bit rate 1.64Mbps, wireless off, mid screen brightness, 20% volume)
· Distributed processing: 5 hours, 45 minutes (WiFi on, max screen brightness, sound off)
· DMB viewing: 6 hours, 50 minutes (full-screen, wireless off, mid screen brightness)
Still, I personally believe that users will be more than happy with the 8 hour battery life which provides almost full day computing.
