The Wind 200 - probable?

Intel in its recently released roadmap showed interest in the CULV based low voltage dual core processors which are said to outperform AMD Athlon Neo machines, which are currently faster than the Atom processors used in Netbooks but slower than full dual-core laptops. A lot of manufacturers had shown interest in the CULV or Consumer Ultra Low Voltage technology with MSI being in the forefront.

Engadget Chinese claims to have got a sneak peak at the new MSI Wind U200 12-inch Notebook which is rumored to have the following specifications:

  • Intel Celeron M ULV 723 1.20GHz processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 250GB Hard disk drive
  • WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
  • VGA video output and also a HDMI output (evident from the leaked photo)
  • At least 1 USB port (evident from the leaked photo)

The 12-inch display would be able to support a resolution of 1366x768 and would have LED backlighting to further reduce the power consumption. The graphics would be provided by the onboard GMA4500 chipset and the OS used would be Windows Vista Home Premium. Although the price and availability are not yet known but it is expected that the MSI Wind U200 Notebook will lie in the range of $700-$1000.
