Netflix subscribers will soon be able to play three "Grand Theft Auto" games for free
In a press release, Netflix has announced that subscribers will have access to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition from December 14, namely both the iOS and Android versions of the three included games.
The trilogy includes GTA: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto III and GTA: San Andreas. Like the regular version of the three games, the Netflix Edition can simply be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, but instead of paying between US$4.99 - 6.99, depending on the game, all you need to do is enter your Netflix account details the first time you start the game. The iOS versions also officially support the iPad. The Netflix version is marketed as the "Definitive Edition" and is said to have improved graphics and controls.
However, as the disappointing console version of the Definitive Edition has shown, you shouldn't expect too much from these promised upgrades. According to Apple's privacy policy, the Netflix version requires access to location services and user data, unlike the version distributed directly by Rockstar Games.
This brings the Netflix games library to over 80 titles. Highlights include Dead Cells, Oxenfree, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, Bloons TD 6, Exploding Kittens, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeons, Moonlighter and Terra Nil. Netflix guarantees that all these games can be played without advertising or in-app purchases as long as you have an active Netflix subscription.
