Leaker shares slew of Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic images before Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event
Roland Quandt and WinFuture have leaked various official images of the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic, with no direct Galaxy Watch5 Pro successor to be offered this year. Instead, Samsung will return to selling four Galaxy Watch sizes, starting with the 40 mm variant of the Galaxy Watch6. Additionally, there will be a 43 mm version of the Galaxy Watch6 Classic, followed by a Galaxy Watch6 with a 44 mm case size.
Meanwhile, a 47 mm version of the Galaxy Watch6 Classic will top out the range, making it the largest Galaxy Watch yet. According to Quandt, Samsung distinguishes the rumoured Exynos W930 chipset from its predecessor only with higher clock speeds rather than a narrower manufacturing process or other refinements. While it remains to be seen whether Samsung has made any other performance improvements, all Galaxy Watch6 series models have slimmer bezels than their predecessors.
Accordingly, all smartwatches feature larger AMOLED displays than earlier Galaxy Watch smartwatches, particularly the 47 mm version of the Galaxy Watch6 Classic. Other design changes include a thinner rotating crown for Galaxy Watch6 Classic models, underlining their improved screen-to-body ratio compared to their Galaxy Watch4 Classic and Galaxy Watch5 Pro predecessors. Moreover, it appears that all Galaxy Watch6 variants have a more raised sensor array than the Galaxy Watch5 series, implying some changes to health monitoring sensors.
Elsewhere, Samsung has integrated new quick-release strap buttons, eschewing the more conventional quick-release lugs. Seemingly, the Galaxy Watch6 series will maintain compatibility with third-party watch straps, though. Although pricing remains a mystery for now, Samsung has confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will occur during the final week of July.
