Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro surface in new certifications with three model variants
Yesterday, Huawei announced the date of a new hardware launch event, scheduled for March 23. Reputedly, the event will be a major one for the company, during which it may unveil a new smartwatch alongside other products like the P60 series. Now, more evidence has surfaced online that Huawei is preparing to release the Watch 4 series.
To recap, Huawei Ailesi spotted the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro last month at a regulatory body. Subsequently, Huawei Central has uncovered the pair at the Wi-Fi Alliance, where Huawei has certified three models. As the image below shows, the Wi-Fi Alliance has posted results for the Watch 4, which carries the model number ARC-AL00. Additionally, there are two versions of the Watch 4 Pro, which Huawei has certified as MDS-AL10 and MDS-AL00.
It remains to be seen how the two Watch 4 Pro models differ at this stage. However, all three only support WiFi 4 (802.11n) and 2.4 GHz networks, which remains typical for modern smartwatches despite the adoption of newer Wi-Fi standards by other mobile products. Still, Huawei has integrated WPA2 and WPA3 authentication, which will make the Watch 4 series compatible with the majority of home networks. Unsurprisingly, the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro will also run HarmonyOS, Huawei's in-house operating system.
