Hot on the heels of its new G7 Pro Zenless Zone Zero edition controller launch, GameSir has another surprise on display at its Tokyo Game Show booth. According to images posted on X by user @yoshivesmovie, the company seems to have a nifty Game Boy-style controller in the works.
The controller hasn’t been officially announced, but it’s already being showcased alongside other GameSir controllers at the Tokyo event. From the photos, the mini gamepad clips to the bottom of a smartphone and mimics the original Game Boy layout with a D-pad on the left and A/B buttons on the right, plus Start and Select. With the phone’s screen on top, it looks a lot like a modern take on the classic handheld.
The concept is similar to the Hyperkin Smart Boy, but GameSir’s version looks far more compact and likely lighter since it does away with the ability to play cartridges. Instead, it adds two extra face buttons like modern controllers, along with a pair of shoulder buttons at the back. From the photos, there also seems to be a cutout near the charging port, which could point to Bluetooth support.
GameSir has been on a roll with controller launches lately, from the Zenless Zone Zero Edition to the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma Edition of its G7 Pro Xbox wireless controller. Given that momentum, there’s a good chance this mini Game Boy-style controller will also make it to market in the coming weeks.
