Kia is rolling out Plug & Charge for the 2025 Kia EV6 and 2026 Kia EV9. As its first models with Tesla’s NACS port, they can charge at Superchargers and Electrify America stations without apps or cards.

Until now, Kia EV owners had to take several steps to use a public DC fast charger. They often needed to open an app, tap a card, or manually start the session. With Plug & Charge, that process gets much simpler.

Once a payment method is set up in Kia’s Charge Pass system, charging becomes automatic. Drivers can now use a compatible public charger, plug in, and simply walk away after charging. The experience is faster and more seamless with authentication, billing, and charging happening in the background.

“This upgrade makes the EV experience more user-friendly than ever,” said Sujith Somasekharan, Connected Car & Mobility Director at Kia America.

Kia’s implementation is similar to what Tesla drivers have long enjoyed at Superchargers. Other EV makers are also adopting it: Rivian supports Plug & Charge at Tesla Superchargers and Ionna’s Rechargeries, while Volkswagen ID.4 drivers can use it at Electrify America stalls. Kia is now joining this growing list with its newest EVs.

The feature will launch for the 2025 Kia EV6 by the end of September 2025, followed by the 2026 Kia EV9 by the end of the year. Kia says it will notify owners when the update is ready, along with instructions for setup.

The 2025 Kia EV6 and 2026 Kia EV9 are also the first Kia cars to be built with Tesla’s NACS charging port. This means owners can use Tesla Superchargers and some Electrify America stations directly without needing an adapter. However, most non-Tesla DC fast chargers in the U.S. still use the CCS1 connector, so an adapter will be needed for charging at those spots.
