Galaxy Watch8 battery capacity leaks: Small upgrade over last gen

There have been quite a few leaks and rumors surrounding the upcoming Galaxy Watch series hinting at the different models, design, and charging speed. The latest suggests battery capacity for the three expected models and they seem to be getting an upgrade over the previous generation, but not by much. The Galaxy Watch8 is said to come in a 40mm and a 44mm form factor, along with a Galaxy Watch8 Classic that has a rotating dial. 

The latest leak comes from a certification website via SammyGuru and it shows the familiar model numbers, said to be associated with the Galaxy Watch8 and the Watch8 Classic. Starting with the Galaxy Watch8 and its 40mm variant, it is said to have model numbers SM-L320 and SM-L325 for the Bluetooth and LTE versions respectively. This smaller model is said to carry a 318 mAh battery (325 mAh typical). The 44mm variant is said to have model numbers SM-L330 and SM-L335, and a battery capacity of 426 mAh (435 mAh typical).

For reference, the Galaxy Watch7 40mm (Bluetooth variant on Amazon) has a 300mAh battery while the 44mm variant (Bluetooth variant on Amazon) has a 425mAh battery. If the leaks turn out to be true, the Galaxy Watch8 series will get only a minor battery upgrade over the Watch7 series.

As for the Galaxy Watch8 Classic, it is said to be associated with model numbers SM-L500 (Bluetooth) and SM-L505 (LTE). This variant is listed with a 435 mAh battery (450 mAh typical). In comparison, the Galaxy Watch6 Classic (43mm model on Amazon) comes with a 425 mAh battery while the Galaxy Watch5 Pro (Bluetooth model on Amazon) features a 590 mAh cell. While there is no confirmation on the moniker, it is believed to be a Watch8 Classic since there is a Bluetooth and an LTE model, unlike the Galaxy Watch Ultra (Buy on Amazon), and the battery capacity is relatively small for a Pro or an Ultra watch. 

Samsung is expected to unveil the new series of Galaxy Watch in July alongside the new Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.
