GTA VI (6) is currently in development at Rockstar, according to an insider leak. So far, the only clues to GTA 6 have been this particular leak and a previous teaser of GTA Online Cayo Perico surveil.exe. Also being speculated is that GTA V could arrive on the upcoming PlayStation VR 2, which could not only boost sales but also make VR a successful platform in upcoming PlayStation generations.

It's been more than seven years since the popular Grand Theft Auto (GTA) V released, so the anticipation for the sixth edition of the franchise has been naturally quite high. So high that when Rockstar was about to tease GTA V for the PlayStation 5, the game was initially assumed to be GTA VI (6). Now, known leaker @Yan2295 claims that GTA VI is indeed in development.

@Yan2295 calls himself a Rockstar insider and has been quite spot-on about game info leaks — back in 2018, apparently 2K Games had even asked him to stop leaking. According to him, GTA VI is very well under development, but there's no ETA at the moment.

While that's all the information we have about GTA 6 at the moment, back in November, a Twitter user @welltest789 (account now suspended) discovered additional clues pertaining to the game. In the GTA Online Cayo Perico surveil.exe teaser, the co-ordinates "38.527A N; 79.6129A W" appeared briefly.

YouTube channel West Highland Productions made a video showing that these co-ordinates extracted by @welltest789 directs to a dirt road in Middle Mountain Trail, Virginia, USA. The shape of this road seemed to resemble the Roman numeral VI, which in all probability is a tease for GTA VI.

There is also other news that Rockstar may have started development of GTA 6 back in 2015. Given the average duration of five to eight years needed to make a AAA title on the scale of GTA these days, we may very well see GTA 6 hitting PC and console platforms some time before 2023. Given the many brickbats that Cyberpunk 2077 had to face, fans would do best to let Rockstar take its time to deliver a decent product on launch day.

Now, the speculation is that GTA V could come to the upcoming PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2). Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan had earlier indicated that GTA has graced every PlayStation generation since the beginning, so an enhanced version of GTA V for PSVR 2 is not improbable.

A VR version of GTA would be an enticing prospect for the PSVR2 and could possibly boost this product segment while also somewhat covering up current PS5 supply issues.

GTA V is slated to land on the PlayStation 5 some time in H2 2021.
