The latest estimated PS5 sales numbers have the console rapidly approaching five million units sold. Rumors have been circulating that there will be a considerable restock within the next few days, and fans in Thailand now have a pre-order date, launch date, and price for the PlayStation 5 console.

PS5 sales figures show Sony’s console closing in on the 4.5 million-mark with the 5-million mark possibly having already been crossed. Data from VGChartz states that 4,480,728 PS5 consoles were sold through December 26. Considering that information is for sales up to two weeks ago, it could be presumed that Sony’s hardware may now be close to five million units sold, if not beyond that incredible figure. PS5 sales numbers have been strong since its launch in November. In comparison, the Xbox Series X|S has accumulated 2,401,386 global sales since launch, while over 27.5 million Nintendo Switch consoles were purchased in 2020.

It is clear that the PS5 is going to continue being a massive seller if it can manage almost five million units sold within two months of its life cycle. However, stock supply has been an issue around the globe, with thousands of gamers trying to snatch up the few units available. For example, the recently revealed custom black PS5 from SUP3R5 amassed nearly 54,000 people on its waiting list for just 304 consoles. There are rumors that PS5 restock will happen between January 14 and January 21, especially in Europe and for the UK. As for the US, restock seems to be occurring sporadically via Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc., and there is mention of Sony bringing in a huge shipment (“100% larger than the first 2 combined”) at some point in this first quarter.

Whilst patient would-be buyers in North America and Europe should avoid turning to scalpers as PS5 restock seems to be incoming, fans in Thailand now get the opportunity to have a first shot at getting hold of Sony’s latest and greatest. The official PlayStation site for Thailand has revealed a pre-order date and launch date of January 22 and February 5, respectively, for the new console. As for the prices, the regular PS5 comes in at 16,990 THB (US$564) while the Digital Edition model will be priced at 13,990 THB (US$465).
